Project Walk SPECIALISTS must meet the following requirements:
4-year degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or related field; Master’s degree a plus
Professional demeanor with ability to work with diverse groups
Ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds and maintain a moderate to strenuous workload
Holds current CPR and AED certification
The passion to help people with disabilities
Able to stand many hours throughout the day
Experience working with special populations a plus but not required

Holds current CPR and AED certification

Project Walk Practicum Overview
Weeks 1-4:
Equipment familiarization and proper use
Introduction to Clients
Safety Procedures
Understanding injuries / illnesses
Working with special populations
Adapting equipment and exercise to meet client needs
Assisting Trainers
Spotting clients during exercises
Assisting with 2-person lifts
Gathering necessary equipment
Week 5-8:
Understanding and creating exercise prescription
Gait training techniques and exercises
Familiarization of modalities and proper exercises
Assisting trainers with exercises
Takings clients through certain modalities
Weeks 9-12:
Working with clients under supervision of PW Specialist
